ได้ยินชื่อแมลงวันทองที่มีชื่อเสียงเรื่องทำลายผลไม้มานาน แต่เพิ่งรู้จักตัวจริงวันนี้เอง ตอนที่พบกำลังบินมาตอมกล้วยสุกตอนแรกเข้าใจว่าเป็นพวกแตน เพราะมีลวดลายและสีคล้ายแตน แต่พอดูดีๆ หน้าตาคล้ายแมลงวันแต่เหมือนมีเหล็กในที่ก้น สักพักเจ้าตัวนี้ก็เอาส่วนปลายก้นแหย่ลงในจุดช้ำของผลกล้วยแล้วก็ปล่อยไข่ออกมาอย่างไม่สนใจคนที่นั่งมองอยู่เลย รีบเข้า Google ค้นหาว่ามันมีความสามารถในการทำลายผลไม้อย่างไร ทำไมเกษตรกรและเจ้าของผลไม้ถึงไม่ชอบมันเอามากๆ

แมลงวันทองเพศเมียจะใช้อวัยวะวางไข่ แทงเข้าไปในผลไม้ที่ใกล้สุกและมีเปลือกบาง แล้วปล่อยไข่ลงไป เมื่อตัวหนอนฟักออกมาจะอาศัย อยู่ในเนื้อผลไม้ ทำให้ผลไม้เน่าเสีย และมักจะมีโรคและแมลงชนิดอื่นๆ เข้าทำลายซ้ำ

ภายจากคลิปด้านล่างจะพบว่าเมื่อแมลงวันตัวเมียพบตำแหน่งที่เหมาะสมบนกล้วยน้ำว้า เช่น บริเวณจุดที่ช้ำของผลกล้วย มันจะแหย่อวัยวะสำหรับวางไข่ (ovipositor) ลงไปแล้วเริ่มปล่อยไข่ออกมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง และในนาทีที่ 3:20 ของ คลิป จะเห็นว่าเมื่อผ่าบริเวณที่แมลงวันทองเพิ่งวางไข่ ออกจะพบกลุ่มไข่อยู่บริเวณเนื้อผลไม้ส่วนที่ติดกับผิวหรือเปลือกของผลไม้
I have heard about the bad name of the Fruit fly for a long time but just see the real one today. This insect called the Oriental fruit fly first seen I thought it was one kind of hornet because of the color yellow and black on its body. However, looking at it again it is more like a fly with a stinger at the bottom. So I guess that this is a fruit fly. After searching from the internet, I found that why all farmers hate them.
From the Department of Agricultural Extension website, the mated female is laying eggs on the thin skin fruit during the repining process by puncture the skin of the fruit deposit eggs in a few batches of 3-30 eggs underneath a fruit's skin. This makes the fruit spoil also leads to other insects destroy the same fruit.
