Phantom crane fly - Crane fly - แมลงวันแมงมุม - طيثارية
I found these two insects at Khao Prathap Chang Wildlife Sanctuary on Friday 5 October 2018 about 10 am. They look like mosquito with long 6 legs and has white and black panda color on its legs and body. Its size about my hand. Asking and insect guru in fanpage siamensis.org and member Piyapong T Chuatrakul kindly shared that they are Phantom crane flies.
พบแมลงสองตัวนี้ที่ สถานีวิจัยการเพาะเลี้ยงสัตว์ป่า เขาประทับช้าง วันศุกร์ที่ 5 ตุลาคม 2561 ประมาณ 10.00 น. ลักษณะเหมือนยุงที่มีขายาว 6 ขา และมีสีขาวสลับดำ ที่ขาและลำตัวเหมือนหมีแพนด้า ขนาดประมาณฝ่ามือ ลองสอบถามข้อมูลจะท่านผู้รู้เรื่องแมลงในแฟนเพจ siamensis.org และได้รับความกรุณาจาก คุณ Piyapong T Chuatrakul แนะนำว่าเป็นแมลงที่เรียกว่า Phantom Crane Fly และได้ลองค้นหาจากอินเทอร์เน็ตเพิ่มเติม พบว่ามีข่าวมีผู้พบแมลงคล้ายกันนี้แต่ไม่มีลายขาวดำ เมื่อ พค. 2517 และกรมควบคุมโรคให้ข้อมูลว่าเป็น "แมลงวันแมงมุม" ไม่มีพิษ และไม่กัดคน https://mgronline.com/qol/detail/9570000054026
Bittacomorpha clavipes, known as the Phantom crane fly (though this name can also apply to any member of Ptychopteridae), is a species of fly in the family Ptychopteridae. It is found in the eastern United States west to the Rocky Mountains.
It flies upright with its legs spread apart. Females lay hundreds of eggs by dipping their abdomen in the water.
